Cbrady....
That is sooooo funny!! You and I studied with him for the same exact time period.
I can remember when he moved into that house right next to the Ventura Fwy with Mark Cranny (love Crannys work on the "A" for Anderson tour:Jethro Tull!!).........
I had gone over to his house to meet with him one night late.... hadn't seen him in a while. It was dark outside. So as I'm coming up on the house, I see his new Porsche (thanks via Dave L. Roth im sure) and then this hairy blonde headed monster pops into my face from outta nowhere and startles me!! I kinda jumped back and said "greg!!??". (while still standing in near darkness) I was wondering who the cat was with all the hair??
I laughed when I finally realized it WAS him!!
He was like, "cool hair huh??" LOL!!
I'll never forget too.... one lesson at the Cranny pad.....
I walk in the door and greg greets me and says, "yeah.... just go in the garage and I'll meet you there"...... all the while as I'm walking in a trance looking at Alan Holdsworth talking to someone in the living room.
Cbrady.... you're right!! Thems was the good days!!! Greg is a true ambassador of what the drum community is all about!!
peace!!

Yo J-Mech,
Yeah, the Craney house thing was a little later though, I think. I had a lesson with Craney too but this was before Gregg had moved in. Gregg set the lesson up for me and I was excited and freaked out at the same time. Gregg had hipped me to the Brother To Brother album so I was anxious to ask Mark about some of the fills and grooves from the CD. The lesson was scheduled for Saturday morning. I get there early and wait in my car. When the time arrives, I walk up to the door and knock and Craney answers still in his PJ's. He is holding a spatula and he looks at me kind of weird (at this point I realize that he forgot about the lesson). I remind him about the lesson and he says to me, "Oh Yeah. Hey, I'm about to have breakfast, you want me to whip you up some eggs?" I was to young and freaked to laugh but when I look back on it, it brings a smile. I told Gregg about it and to this day he thinks that is the funniest thing. Especially when you know Craney's sense of humor. That was a great lesson though. I remember Mark showing me some of the Brother to Brother fills(over my head at that time). When Gregg and Mark became roommates I remember going to a lesson at that house and Mark and Myron Grombacher were there. Gregg was on the phone so he said, "Why don't you guys jam and I will be in shortly". I got to trade 4's with Craney and Myron (they had 3 or 4 kits set up in the garage). Unfortunately, in my overzealousness, I went to choke a cymbal and spilt my finger open at the knuckle down to the bone. Blood dripping all over Craney's kit. I felt like an idiot!

Gregg has had the most profound effect on my life of any person outside of my family.
He's the reason I live my life the way I do, not to mention the drumming. (That's extra credit as he'd say...)
